Gallery 322 Presents, “Capturing the Moment” Recent work by Jan Kaufman

June 3 –25, 2017
Artists’ Receptions –
First Saturday, June 3rd,  5 to 8 p. m.
Open Saturdays and Sundays 12 to 5
Jan Kaufman’s solo show, “Capturing the Moment” is a selection of works ranging, from atmospheric land- and seascapes, to loosely painted still lifes, and then to abstract color studies. Though the subjects differ, they all share her characteristic style of painting — in which touch, texture and color play an important role. Kaufman’s goal is to record the little visual moments of a day that are glimpsed almost without noticing but still create an almost unconscious impression. She believes that visual moments, such as the light seen on an early morning walk, the unexpected beauty of a back alley, the sun setting over the water and other simple scenes, serve to distract from daily concerns and are worth recording.

“Splash!” opens on Saturday, July 1 at noon, and there will be an Opening Reception from 5 to 8 pm. There will also be an Artist’s Reception on First Saturday, August 5, from 5 to 8 pm.
