Gallery 322  is featuring Ann Schaefer, “Sojourns–catching the light along the way…” paintings and watercolor sketches done during 2011 and 2012 travels to Tuscany, Maine, Santa Fe, Key West, Bahamas, Caribbean and Cuba, along with some from home. During this period of intensive travel, the artist enjoyed plein air painting in oil, acrylic and watercolor. The artist will be in the gallery studio during most open hours, demonstrating how she uses memories and photographs of travel to paint in a larger format.
A lifelong artist, Ann Schaefer is a Fine Arts graduate of the George Washington University. After a career managing Federal environmental programs, she has spent the past ten years focusing on her art, while enjoying opportunities to travel. This past year and a half, she has covered a lot of territory, and a lot of canvas. This has given her a chance to visit beautiful places where the environment has been protected, and to reflect the sunlit beauty she has found in diverse places.
